SQuIDS Lab member Luigi Starace took part in the FOSTEM outreach initiative, bringing hands‑on STEM activities to middle‑school students across Campania. Our contribution focused on introducing young learners to computer science, programming, and the basics of artificial intelligence through interactive workshops and demonstrations.
Throughout the project, we delivered sessions on visual programming, sensors and microcontrollers, and everyday applications of AI, aiming to spark curiosity and make technical subjects approachable for everyone. The activities also supported FOSTEM’s broader mission: promoting inclusion, encouraging STEM pathways, and helping students overcome gender stereotypes and social barriers that often influence educational choices.
Participating in FOSTEM has strengthened our connection with local schools and offered an opportunity to show how research in software quality and intelligent systems can inspire the next generation. The SQuIDS Lab remains committed to outreach and educational initiatives that bring science and technology closer to the community.
